Canon & Invertible Counterpoint
Hosted by Insight Chamber Players Composition
This class covers the intersection of canon and invertible counterpoint, two central techniques that have been studied at length throughout history by various masters of music composition. Each class begins with a presentation given by Ericsson Hatfield, followed by exercises in practical composition and musicianship that are then workshopped. This curriculum was written in consultation with Daniel Chang whose studies of S. Teneyev’s writings have served to revitalize the theories of this course and reveal insights into the highest crafts of the masterworks.
